What is Attachment Parenting?

As I mentioned in the “About Us” I follow attachment parenting, and I believe it is the best method for my family.

From the Dr. Sears website, Attachment Parenting is defined as:

“Attachment parenting is a style of caring for your infant that brings out the best in the baby and the best in the parents.  Attachment parenting implies first opening your mind and heart to the individual needs of your baby, and eventually you will develop the wisdom on how to make on-the-spot decisions on what works best for both you and your baby.”

There are seven tools of attachment parenting called the “Baby B’s” I will list the seven and if you are interested you can look into them more.

1. Birth Bonding

2. Breastfeeding

3. Baby wearing

4. Bedding close to baby

5. Belief in the language value of your baby’s cry

6. Beware of baby trainers

7. Balance

A big part of attachment parenting is creating a bond with your child. Doing what is best for them, over what is best for you. It believes in no CIO, or spanking. It is more of an approach then a set of written rules. Attachment parenting comes from following your instincts and your heart.

I personally CANNOT let my daughter Cry It Out. My heart aches and hurts anytime I hear her cry. I believe she is crying for a reason, whether she is wet, hungry, or just needs me.

I will go further into attachment parenting and what it means for me at another time, I just wanted to write a quick, basic post while I had the time.

Happy parenting!
